If I'm brutally honest, Stephen J. Cannell is one of the people who inspired me to become a writer. He wrote for Columbo, The Rockford Files, created the Chandler-quoting Jeff Goldblum vehicle Tenspeed and Brownshoe and most of all had his own title sequence. He also earned nearly half a million dollars a year. So far things have not turned out like that for me.
